Job summary

Next Day Recruitment in Sydney's Western Suburbs seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to support machinery upgrades, plant improvements, and capital projects. You will work across design, testing, installation, commissioning, and some PLC programming, collaborating with engineers, electricians, maintenance, production, and suppliers.

The role offers $110k–$135k plus super, mentoring under a Senior Engineer, and a strong project pipeline. This is a practical, hands-on role on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with full Australian working rights.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical design, plant engineering, or industrial contracting.
• A solid grasp of AS/NZS 3000 and 3008, and proficiency in AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Help with the electrical design on plant machinery and switchgear packages, covering breaker sizing, changeover logic, and control interfaces.
• Run calculations for cable sizing to AS/NZS 3008, volt drop, and overload settings under senior guidance.
• Create and update schematics, single line diagrams, and control drawings in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Work with the mechanical team to check equipment ventilation, layout constraints, and physical installations.
• Help run factory acceptance tests (FAT), load bank testing, site commissioning, and occasional PLC troubleshooting.
• Work closely with the workshop floor, maintenance teams, and contractors to sort out practical technical queries on site.
