Job summary

Chandler Macleod Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Sydney to own electrical design and documentation across water and wastewater projects. The role is primarily office-based with site visits at project milestones.

You will design electrical systems, produce diagrams, perform calculations to Australian Standards, and oversee control panels with FAT/SAT planning and testing.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree required.
• Experience in water/wastewater industry: treatment plants, pump stations or utilities.
• Familiar with AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards.
• Exposure to PLC and HMI systems, control panel design and FAT/SAT.
• Strong reporting and project skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical designs including equipment selection, circuit design and system architecture.
• Produce single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and control schematics.
• Complete and document design calculations to Australian Standards.
• Specify and oversee the build of electrical control panels.
• Plan and coordinate FAT/SAT (Factory and Site Acceptance Testing).
• Contribute to HAZOPs, design reviews and client meetings.
• Provide technical support on PLC, HMI and remote access systems.
• Keep project documentation and reporting up to date in Procore.

Our client is an established Sydney engineering company that designs, builds and services water and wastewater treatment plants for industrial clients across Australia. They’re a close-knit team where engineers see their designs go from the drawing board to a working plant.

About the role

This permanent role reports to the General Manager. You’ll own the electrical design and documentation across a variety of treatment plant projects. It’s primarily office-based, with site visits mainly at the start and completion of projects.

What you’ll do

• Deliver electrical designs including equipment selection, circuit design and system architecture
• Produce single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and control schematics
• Complete and document design calculations to Australian Standards
• Specify and oversee the build of electrical control panels
• Plan and coordinate Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT)
• Contribute to HAZOPs, design reviews and client meetings
• Provide technical support on PLC, HMI and remote access systems
• Keep project documentation and reporting up to date in Procore

What you’ll bring

• A degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in the water or wastewater industry: treatment plants, pump stations or utilities
• Strong electrical design and documentation skills (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar)
• Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards
• Exposure to PLC and HMI systems, control panel design and FAT/SAT
• Organised and thorough, with strong reporting and project skills
