Job summary

Red Appointments in Wollongong, Australia seeks an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to design and deliver compliant electrical, automation, and motor control solutions for heavy industry.

Qualifications

• University Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 3 to 10+ years of experience within an industrial electrical engineering environment.
• Experience with electrical power distribution, motor control systems, and VSDs.
• Exposure to Siemens and/or Allen‑Bradley equipment is highly regarded.
• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, AS 4024 and associated standards.
• Previous site and/or commissioning experience.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency with unrestricted Australian working rights.

Are you an experienced Heavy Industrial Electrical Engineer looking for a role where you can see your designs come to life?

RED Appointments is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to join an established Australian engineering business delivering specialist electrical, automation, power distribution, and motor control solutions to heavy industry.

Working across metals, mining, materials handling, and water treatment, this is a hands‑on engineering role offering involvement across the complete project lifecycle, from design and documentation through manufacturing, testing, and on-site commissioning.

Location: The company is based in Wollongong, and you would work in the office, in the workshop and at site (typically around local area and wider NSW locations, and occasionally interstate)

The Role

Working closely with engineers, project managers, workshop personnel, and site teams, you will design and deliver compliant and reliable electrical systems for a variety of industrial projects.

• Designing electrical power and motor control systems, including VSD applications within process automation environments
• Designing low‑voltage distribution boards, MCCs and VSD panels to relevant Australian and New Zealand standards
• Producing electrical schematics, layouts, and technical documentation
• PLC software development, from functional descriptions through to testing
• Working closely with project managers and workshop teams throughout project delivery
• Providing technical support during manufacturing and installation
• Testing, fault finding and troubleshooting electrical and control systems
• Participating in site commissioning and project handover

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• A University Degree or TAFE Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• 3 to 10 + years of experience within an industrial electrical engineering environment
• Experience with electrical power distribution, motor control systems, and VSDs
• Exposure to Siemens and/or Allen‑Bradley equipment is highly regarded
• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, AS 4024 and associated standards
• Previous site and/or commissioning experience
• Experience working within the Australian or New Zealand engineering environment
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
• The ability to communicate confidently with engineers, trades, project teams and clients
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency with unrestricted Australian working rights
