Job summary

Costerfield Operations in Central Victoria seeks an Electrical Planner to develop and schedule maintenance for electrical assets in a mining setting. You will coordinate with operations and contractors to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective work, while maintaining spares and improving downtime metrics.

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, you will manage detailed work plans and ensure compliance with WHS and company standards, with a residential/non-FIFO role in a busy mining environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ mining or heavy industrial maintenance experience.
• Proven supervisory experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient in using CMMS and planning tools.
• Solid understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and mining regulations.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed work plans for electrical maintenance tasks, including labour, material, tools and equipment requirements.
• Schedule preventative maintenance activities to optimize equipment reliability and minimize production impact.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure timely execution of work orders.
• Liaise with internal teams and external contractors to secure resources for planned work.
• Maintain accurate records, spares and stock replenishment; identify recurring failures and propose improvements.

Costerfield

Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.

Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of approximately 300 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

Please note: Costerfield Operations is a residential mine and does not facilitate FIFO

Requirements

The Role

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the Electrical Planner will be responsible for developing, scheduling and coordinating electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operations of mining and processing electrical assets. The role focuses on planning preventative and corrective maintenance for electrical systems, minimizing downtime and supporting compliance with statutory and company standards.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Develop detailed work plans for electrical maintenance tasks, including labour, material, tools and equipment requirements.
• Schedule preventative maintenance activities to optimize equipment reliability and minimize production impact.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure timely execution of work orders.
• Liaise with internal teams and external contractors to secure resources for planned work.
• Maintain accurate records of critical spares and initiate stock replenishment.
• Review and prioritise electrical work orders and ensure accurate
• job scoping and documentation.
• Collect and analyse electrical performance metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Identify recurring electrical failures and propose corrective actions.
• Review planning and scheduling processes to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce downtime.
• Contribute to reliability initiatives and asset management strategies.
• Oversee spare parts inventory management for all equipment supplies.
• Identify and requisition all necessary electrical parts, consumables, and tools for planned tasks.
• Coordinate timely ordering and receipt of parts.
• Manage stock levels to reduce delays in repairs and minimize inventory costs

The Person

We are seeking an individual who possesses:

• Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining or heavy industrial maintenance
• Proficient in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
• Solid understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and mining regulations
• Supervisory experience in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills
• Data entry, QAQC, validation and analysis experience
• Work planning and scheduling skills
• Self-motivated, detail and quality focused
• Ability to react to change efficiently
