Job summary

Perilya is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Broken Hill site, supporting underground electrical infrastructure and mobile equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.

This key role offers exposure to HV/LV systems, capital projects, risk assessments, and collaboration with maintenance, projects, and operations. NSW WHS compliance and a strong safety culture are core.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in underground mining operations highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems in a mining environment.
• Sound understanding of NSW electrical and WHS requirements.
• Ability to collaborate across operations, maintenance and projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for underground electrical distribution, substations, reticulation, and fixed plant.
• Ensure compliance with NSW mining legislation, electrical standards, and site procedures.
• Develop and review electrical designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Support capital projects, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities.
• Conduct risk assessments, fault investigations, and root cause analyses.
• Provide technical guidance to supervisors, electricians, and contractors.
• Support improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.

About the Role

Perilya is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Broken Hill. This is a key site-based role supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of underground electrical infrastructure and mobile equipment.

The Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and support across underground electrical systems, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide engineering support for underground electrical distribution, substations, reticulation, and fixed plant

Ensure compliance with NSW mining legislation, electrical standards, and site procedures

Develop and review electrical designs, drawings, and technical documentation

Support capital projects, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities

Conduct risk assessments, fault investigations, and root cause analyses

Provide technical guidance to supervisors, electricians, and contractors

Support improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency

About You

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering

Demonstrated experience in underground mining operations (highly desirable)

Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems in a mining environment

Sound understanding of NSW statutory electrical and WHS requirements

Ability to work collaboratively across operations, maintenance, and projects

Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills

Experience with asset management and reliability practices will be highly regarded
