Controlling Power in Somersby on the NSW Central Coast seeks an autonomous Electrical Design Drafter with 4–5+ years' drafting experience. You will turn client concepts into precision switchboard designs, bridging sales, procurement, and production in a busy facility.

Expect involvement across design, procurement, workshop and continuous improvement with potential to advance within an established, growth-oriented company.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of electrical drafting experience, ideally in switchboard manufacturing or industrial engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and solid understanding of SolidWorks for 3D work.
• Deep knowledge of industrial electrical components and AS/NZS 3000/AS/NZS 61439.
• Strong attention to detail, spatial reasoning, and cross‑functional teamwork.
• Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related drafting certification; NSW driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Design and draft accurate 2D schematics and layouts in AutoCAD; 3D modeling in SolidWorks is a bonus.
• Generate precise Bills of Materials and support procurement and workshop with changes.
• Perform self-checks and peer reviews to keep drawings under 2% error and compliant.
• Assist updating and standardising AutoCAD libraries, symbols and templates.

As we continue to grow and promote from within, we are looking for an autonomous, detail-oriented Electrical Design Drafter to join our team. In this mid-to-senior role, you will take client concepts and turn them into precision, manufacture-ready designs for custom switchboards, panelboards, and circuit protection systems. You will bridge the gap between sales, procurement, and production, serving as a vital technical link in our busy manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design & Draft: Create accurate 2D schematics and layouts in AutoCAD. The ability to produce 3D models using SolidWorks for more complex or volume work, would be a bonus.
• Support Manufacturing: Generate highly precise Bills of Materials (BOMs) from which you can provide ordering assistance to procurement and support the workshop team in real-time to troubleshoot and capture \"as-built\" changes.
• Drive Excellence: Perform self-checks and peer reviews to keep drawing errors under a 2% threshold, ensuring all designs hit compliance standards (Controlling Power Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 & AS/NZS 61439) first time around.
• Continuous Improvement: Help update and standardise our AutoCAD drafting library, symbols, and templates to keep the design team running smoothly.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience: 4–5+ years of electrical drafting experience, ideally within electrical switchboard manufacturing or industrial engineering.
• Technical Savvy: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and strong working skills in SolidWorks (or similar 3D software).
• Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of industrial electrical components (circuit breakers, contactors, protection relays) and solid working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
• Soft Skills: Outstanding attention to detail, strong spatial reasoning, and the communication skills needed to collaborate smoothly with sales, production, and delivery teams.
• Qualifications: An Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or an Engineering Drafting Certification would be beneficial.
• Equivalent heavy-industry experience and a current NSW Driver’s License are required.
