Job summary

B&R Enclosures in Brisbane, Australia, is seeking an Electrical Designer / Drafter to join their national team. The role combines design, drafting, estimating, and technical support across modular low-voltage switchboards and control panels.

You will develop 2D/3D electrical schematics, prepare quotations, and contribute to major tenders while collaborating with sales and project teams to deliver engineered solutions.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade background or tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in low voltage switchboard design or manufacture preferred.
• Proven drafting using AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical or similar.
• Strong understanding of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4777 and other relevant standards.
• Ability to read specifications, drawings and SLDs.
• Exposure to project estimating and quotation preparation.
• Excellent time management and multitasking ability.
• Team-oriented and proactive learner.

• Create and review technical documentation, including data sheets, BOMs, and specification packs

• Ensure clear communication with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment on all deliverables
• Assist in the development and maintenance of CAD libraries and drafting standards

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Electrical Designer / Drafter to join our growing national team. This dynamic role combines design, drafting, estimating, and technical support, contributing to projects ranging from small-scale builds to large scale

You will be responsible for the design and quoting of modular low-voltage switchboards and control panels, while working closely with our sales and project management teams to deliver best-in-class engineered solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and estimate low voltage switchboards, motor control centres, and PLC/control panels

Develop 2D/3D electrical schematics, general arrangements, and single-line diagrams

Create and review technical documentation, including data sheets, BOMs, and specification packs

Prepare and contribute to quotations, bids and major tenders

Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, consultants, and contractors

Ensure clear communication with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment on all deliverables

The Person:

You are detail-oriented, technically sound, and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You’re confident managing multiple tasks across design, drafting, and estimating, and can clearly communicate technical information both internally and externally.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Electrical trade background or tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering

Experience in low voltage switchboard design or manufacture preferred

Proven drafting experience using AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical or similar

Strong understanding of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4777, Local Service & Installation Rules and other relevant standards

Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and SLDs

Exposure to project estimating and quotation preparation

Excellent time management and multitasking ability

A team player with a willingness to learn and take initiative
