Job summary

Power Solutions (NSW) Pty Ltd is seeking an Electrical Drafter on a casual basis, approx. 24 hours per week, with work from Newcastle or Parramatta. You will produce electrical drawings using AutoCAD and support engineers across NSW projects.

Strong drafting ability and attention to detail are essential. Revit knowledge is advantageous, and the team offers mentoring and development opportunities in ASP3 design across residential, industrial and substations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Power Solutions is an established electrical engineering consultancy with more than 35 years' experience delivering electrical engineering and design solutions across NSW.

With strong relationships across customers, construction contractors and electricity distributors, we have built a strong reputation as a market leader in the ASP Level 3 space.

Due to continued growth, we're looking for an Electrical Drafter to join our team on a casual basis, approximately 24 hours per week, subject to workload and project requirements.

This role would suit someone with strong AutoCAD skills who is looking to build their career in engineering and infrastructure design.

You don't need extensive industry or electrical experience. We're primarily looking for someone with excellent drafting ability, attention to detail, technical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

The Role

Working alongside our engineers and designers, you'll produce accurate drawings and documentation across a diverse range of electrical infrastructure projects.

You'll:

• Produce detailed electrical drawings using AutoCAD
• Prepare and update drawings from engineering designs, sketches and site information
• Work with engineers and designers to develop practical drawing solutions
• Interpret plans, specifications and technical information
• Prepare plans, layouts, schematics and construction documentation
• Maintain drawing standards, templates and document control
• Incorporate site information and measurements into drawings where required
• Manage multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines
• Develop your understanding of electrical infrastructure and network design

The Projects

You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across NSW, including:

• Asset relocation and network augmentation
• Substations and electrical infrastructure
• Residential and industrial developments, including 1,000+ lots
• Overhead and underground electrical distribution networks
• Projects ranging from 415V to 132kV

You'll work closely with experienced engineers and designers, gaining practical exposure to electrical design and infrastructure projects.

What We're Looking For

Strong AutoCAD skills are the key requirement.

We're interested in people who may have a drafting qualification, recently completed their studies, have practical AutoCAD experience, or are currently studying electrical engineering and looking to gain practical industry experience.

Undergraduate electrical engineering students would be well suited to this role, particularly those with good AutoCAD skills and an interest in electrical infrastructure and design.

You'll ideally have:

• A good understanding of technical drawing and drafting principles
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work
• The ability to interpret drawings, plans and technical information
• A willingness to learn and develop your electrical knowledge
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Experience with Revit, electrical drafting, utilities, infrastructure, construction or ASP3 projects would be advantageous, but is not essential.

No electrical or ASP3 experience? That's okay. If you're excellent at AutoCAD, have a strong eye for detail and are keen to learn, we'd still like to hear from you.
