Qualifications

• Experience designing LV and/or HV switchboards.
• Experience preparing electrical schematics, single line diagrams and manufacturing documentation.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS 61439 and related Australian standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and drafting of LV and HV switchboards and distribution boards.
• Prepare electrical schematics, single line diagrams and manufacturing drawings.
• Review project specifications, drawings and technical requirements.
• Develop practical design solutions suitable for manufacture.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to production and testing teams.
• Participate in design reviews and resolve technical queries.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and QA requirements.
• Mentor junior design team members.

Senior Switchboard Designer

Join an experienced engineering and design team, you will take ownership of the design and documentation of LV and HV switchboards and power distribution systems, working closely with clients, engineers, project managers and manufacturing teams to deliver practical, compliant and high-quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and drafting of LV and HV switchboards and distribution boards
• Preparation of electrical schematics, single line diagrams, general arrangements and manufacturing drawings
• Reviewing project specifications, drawings and technical requirements
• Developing practical design solutions suitable for manufacture
• Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project stakeholders
• Providing technical support to production and testing teams throughout manufacture
• Participating in design reviews and resolving technical queries
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications and company QA requirements
• Supporting and providing technical guidance to junior members of the design team where required

About You

We are seeking an experienced Switchboard Designer who brings strong technical capability combined with a practical understanding of switchboard manufacturing.

To be considered, you will ideally possess:

• Demonstrated experience designing LV and/or HV switchboards
• Strong understanding of switchboard manufacturing and electrical distribution systems
• Experience preparing electrical schematics, single line diagrams and manufacturing documentation
• Advanced AutoCAD skills
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 61439
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and develop practical design solutions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Confident communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, project and manufacturing teams
