Job summary

Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, seeks a Breakfast Commis Chef to join our culinary team. The role supports a busy breakfast service, preparing a variety of meals and ensuring quality, consistency and compliance with recipes and safety standards.

You will work with seasoned professionals, contribute to inventory management, and collaborate with front-of-house to deliver a memorable guest experience at a premier hotel in Melbourne.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications and demonstrated experience in a similar role in a busy restaurant or hotel.
• Sound knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritise tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other departments and staff.
• Commitment to high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a seamless and exceptional breakfast dining experience for hotel guests.
• Assist in preparing meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and special menu items according to standardized recipes and portions.
• Ensure all food items are of the highest quality, cooked to specifications, with consistent taste, presentation and texture.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies, and requisition items as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen workspace following sanitation and food safety guidelines.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe handling, storage and preparation of food.
• Coordinate with other departments such as banquet and catering for special orders and dietary requirements.
• Conduct regular quality control checks on freshness, taste and appearance of dishes.
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient food delivery and guest satisfaction.
