Beach Bums Cafe in Tasmania is seeking a skilled Cook to join a busy kitchen team. This role focuses on preparing meals to high standards, following recipes, managing portion control, and upholding food safety practices in a fast-paced environment.

You will execute a variety of cooking techniques, assist in menu development, supervise prep, ensure FIFO, and support events catering as needed. A positive attitude and reliability are essential for smooth service and customer satisfaction.

Competenze

• One year of experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
• Experience catering for special events and functions.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certification (preferred).

Mansioni

• Cook food in accordance with temperatures and techniques for different equipment.
• Prepare spices and ingredients; use frying, grilling, steaming, stir-frying and boiling as required.
• Inspect deliveries and ensure FIFO and freshness of ingredients.
• Plan and present dishes; create salads from seasonal ingredients.
• Instruct kitchen staff on preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation.
• Estimate quantities and costs of supplies and ingredients.
• Collaborate on recipes or menus based on seasonal availability and customer numbers.
• Follow kitchen procedures and maintain safe food preparation practices.
• Report issues to head chef or manager on duty.

Formazione

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management, or equivalent.
