Job summary

South Cairns Sports Club in Cairns, Queensland, is seeking a full-time Duty Manager to lead daily venue operations and deliver outstanding customer service.

You will supervise staff, ensure legal compliance with liquor and gaming, manage cash and report on shift outcomes, and support events while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher; or 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to work varied shifts including days, weekends and nights until 3am.
• Strong conflict resolution and high-level interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and reliability with attention to detail.
• Able to perform manual handling for setup requirements.

We require an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join our busy team as a full-time Duty Manager. This hands-on role requires outstanding customer service, the ability to lead by example, and clear direction and supervision of staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage venue operations during your shift, including bar, restaurant, gaming and TAB areas
• Supervise, direct and support staff, including allocating duties and breaks
• Ensure compliance with liquor and gaming laws, including responsible service of alcohol and responsible gambling
• Monitor customer satisfaction, and resolve complaints and conflict professionally
• Oversee cash handling, gaming payouts, shift reconciliations and end-of-shift reporting
• Ensure health, safety and security procedures are followed, and respond to incidents
• Report maintenance and security issues, and coordinate setups for events and functions
• Assist management with stock control and ordering

About you

• Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (or 3 years of relevant work experience as a substitute)
• Able to work a variety of shifts, including days, weekends and nights until 3am
• A very high level of skill in dealing with conflict and conflict resolution
• Strong communication and highly developed interpersonal skills
• Extremely flexible and able to multi-task, with keen attention to detail
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Able to perform manual handling tasks (lifting, pushing, moving and pulling) for setup requirements
• Current RSA, RSG Statement of Attainment, RMLV, Approved Manager's Licence and First Aid Certificate

Our facilities include a great outdoor deck area adjoining the South Cairns Cutters AFL oval, Sirens Restaurant, a café, a sports bar, TAB and Keno, a gaming lounge, function rooms and a great indoor children's area. We are open seven days, 10am to 3am.
