Job summary

Trinity Beach Sports Club in Cairns' Northern Beaches is seeking a full-time Duty Manager to lead a busy venue. This hands-on role focuses on outstanding customer service, staff supervision, and clear direction to ensure smooth operations across the bar, restaurant, gaming and TAB areas.

You will work various shifts, including days, weekends and nights until 3am, with responsibilities for conflict resolution, health and safety compliance, cash handling, stock control and event setups.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (or 3 years of relevant work experience as a substitute).
• Ability to work a varied shift pattern, including days, weekends and late nights.
• Proven conflict resolution and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Reliable, flexible and detail‑oriented with high standards of service.

Responsibilities

We require an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join our busy team as a full-time Duty Manager. This hands‑on role requires outstanding customer service, the ability to lead by example, and clear direction and supervision of staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage venue operations during your shift, including bar, restaurant, gaming and TAB areas
• Supervise, direct and support staff, including allocating duties and breaks
• Ensure compliance with liquor and gaming laws, including responsible service of alcohol and responsible gambling
• Monitor customer satisfaction, and resolve complaints and conflict professionally
• Oversee cash handling, gaming payouts, shift reconciliations and end‑of‑shift reporting
• Ensure health, safety and security procedures are followed, and respond to incidents
• Report maintenance and security issues, and coordinate setups for events and functions
• Assist management with stock control and ordering

About you

• Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (or 3 years of relevant work experience as a substitute)
• Able to work a variety of shifts, including days, weekends and nights until 3am
• A very high level of skill in dealing with conflict and conflict resolution
• Strong communication and highly developed interpersonal skills
• Extremely flexible and able to multi‑task, with keen attention to detail
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Able to perform manual handling tasks (lifting, pushing, moving and pulling) for setup requirements
• Current RSA, RSG Statement of Attainment, RMLV, Approved Manager's Licence and First Aid Certificate

Our club caters to the needs of locals, visitors, members and guests, and provides a fantastic dining and entertainment venue for the Northern Beaches community. Our facilities include an outdoor patio overlooking the oval, the 5th Quarter Restaurant, a sports bar, TAB and Keno, a gaming lounge, function rooms and an indoor kids' play area. We are open seven days, from 10am until late.
