Job summary

Perilya is seeking an experienced Drill Fitter to join our Underground Maintenance team in Broken Hill. You will maintain underground drilling equipment, including jumbos and cable bolters, with a focus on reliability and safety, while supporting production on a permanent day shift.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will perform inspections, servicing and repairs, diagnose faults, and maintain service records.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or mobile/heavy vehicle mechanic.
• Experience maintaining underground mining equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Experience on underground drill rigs, jumbos or cable bolters is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of underground jumbos and cable bolters.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Complete breakdown repairs safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.

Perilya is seeking an experienced and motivated Drill Fitter to join our Underground Maintenance team at our Broken Hill Operations. This is an excellent opportunity to work a permanent day shift roster while supporting a critical underground mobile fleet.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our underground drilling equipment, with a primary focus on jumbos and cable bolters.

About the Role

As a Drill Fitter, you will be responsible for carrying out daily inspections, servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs to underground drill rigs, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and available to support production.

Key responsibilities include:

Conduct daily inspections of underground development jumbos and cable bolters.

Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance activities.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.

Complete breakdown repairs in a safe and efficient manner.

Identify and report defects, wear and potential reliability issues.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.

Work closely with operators and the maintenance team to maximise equipment availability.

Adhere to all site safety standards, procedures and statutory requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.

Experience maintaining underground mining equipment.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.

Experience working on underground drill rigs, jumbos or cable bolters is highly desirable.

Sound knowledge of hydraulic systems and heavy mobile equipment.

Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
