Job summary

Mining Pro invites applications for a Leading Hand on a hard rock tailings project in North Queensland. You will supervise a crew operating large equipment and ensure safe, efficient production in a camp environment.

Key requirements include supervisory qualifications, site medical/FCE, police check, a valid manual driver licence, and commitment to safety and teamwork. Relocation to North Queensland is expected for the rostered shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience in hard rock mining tailings removal projects.
• Experience in Supervisory or Leading Hand roles.
• Current licenses and checks: driver licence, police check, medical, FCE, and training transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work within an active mining production schedule.
• Manage crew on listed equipment: excavators, graders, dozers and haul trucks.
• Conduct pre-start inspections and equipment checks.
• Maintain safe and productive operating practices.
• Identify hazards and incidents and report them.
• Work with a close-knit production team to achieve targets.

Join Mining Pro to work on a new Tailings Project in Queensland

Mining Pro has an exciting opportunity for experienced Leading Hand to join our team on a Tailings Project in North Queensland.

Partnering with one of Queensland’s leading gold producers, we are assembling a high-performing operational team to deliver a tailings project. This is a unique opportunity to secure employment on a stable project while operating in a safety-focused environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in hard rock mining environment in a tailings removal project
• Previous experience in a Supervisory or Leading Hand position
• Experience operating the following equipment (or equivalent):
  • Hitachi EX2600 and EX3600 Excavators
  • Hitachi EX1200 Long Arm Excavators
  • CAT D6LGP (Tailings Work) and D10 Dozers
  • CAT 18M Graders
  • CAT 789 or Hitachi EH3500 Haul Trucks
• Valid Australian Manual Driver Licence
• National Police Check (valid within the last 3 months or willingness to obtain)
• Supervisor Qualifications (G1, G8, G9)
• Signed valid Training Transcripts/Skills list
• Standard 11 Qualification
• Current mining medical and Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), or ability to obtain prior to commencement
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
• Ability to work effectively within a production-focused mining environment

About the Role

Reporting to the site management team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mining equipment within a hard rock tailings operation.

Your duties will include:

• Coordinating work within an active mining production schedule
• Managing a crew on the following equipment:
  • Hitachi EX2600 and EX3600 Excavators
  • Hitachi EX1200 Long Arm Excavators
  • CAT 18M Graders
  • CAT D6LGP (Tailings Work) and D10 Dozers
  • CAT 789 and Hitachi EH3500 haul trucks
• Conducting pre-start inspections and equipment checks
• Maintaining safe and productive operating practices
• Working in accordance with site safety, environmental and operational procedures
• Identifying and reporting hazards, defects and incidents
• Working collaboratively within a close-knit production team to achieve operational targets
