Job summary

Stoddart, established in 1959, a Brisbane-based stainless steel and metal fabrication group, is seeking a Despatch Coordinator. The role focuses on timely shipping to meet delivery dates and requires accurate data transfer and strong communication.

Full training is provided to transition from warehousing into despatch, with hours 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, and a hands-on, full-time environment in our southern Brisbane facility and supporting offices.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient with MS Office.
• Accurate data transfer and record keeping.
• Capable of estimating travel times and delivery durations.
• Skilled in contingency planning for deliveries.
• Ability to delegate tasks across drivers.
• Experience engaging with freight company portals.
• Ability to assess and mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

• Assess items for delivery including size, weight, special delivery requirements and a/c clearance
• Consolidate orders according to delivery location
• Consult shipping calendar
• Obtain freight quotes and book interstate transport
• Generate consignment notes, address labels, shipping dockets and make shipment entries
• Receive and action general enquiries by phone and email
• Generate reports (freight cost to invoice)

We operate out of a state-of the-art facility in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, with an additional network of sales offices and warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Despatch Coordinators are pivotal in ensuring goods are shipped in time to meet delivery dates. Whilst each coordinator's role differs slightly, they must be capable across all facets of the role in order to meet manning shortfalls. The role is especially susceptible to time pressures, requiring coordinators to be particularly adept at transferring critical data.

Full training provided to transition from warehousing into a despatch role.

8:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday, Full-time

More specifically your duties will include the following:

• Assess items for delivery including size, weight, special delivery requirements and a/c clearance (cash sales or past grace)
• Consolidate orders according to delivery location
• Consult shipping calendar
• Obtain freight quotes and book interstate transport
• Generate consignment notes, address labels, shipping dockets and make shipment entries
• Receive and action general enquiries by phone and email
• Generate reports (e.g. freight cost to invoice)

In determining suitability for the role, the following criteria are considered essential:

• Ability to demonstrate enhanced verbal and written communication skills incorporating MS Office
• Skilled in the accurate transfer of critical data
• Skilled at estimating travel times and delivery durations
• Skilled at contingency planning in relation to deliveries
• Ability to efficiently delegate tasks across all drivers
• Ability to engage with freight company portals
• Ability to assess and mitigate risk
