Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a Disability Support Worker for our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program in Cairns, Queensland. You will provide personal care and support across a 24/7 roster, including sleepover and active night shifts, helping people with disability live independently in shared accommodation or in their own homes.

The role requires experience with complex health care, medication administration, and positive behaviour support.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of positive behaviour support and approved restrictive practices.
• Experience in complex health care and medication administration.
• Experience in complex behaviour supports and AOD.
• Current Australian driver’s license.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.

About the role

Provide active support to people with Disability in Cairns across Supported Independent Living (SIL). The people you will support are looking for passionate & highly skilled support workers who are experienced in providing complex health care supports, positive behaviour support, medication administration and personal care. An understanding of approved restrictive practices will also be highly regarded.

As a Disability Support Worker in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team, you will assist people with disability to live independently in shared accommodation or their own homes. This includes providing personal care and supporting daily living activities, all within a well-supported organisation that offers comprehensive wraparound supports.

You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster, including sleepover & active night shifts. Availability to work these shifts is essential.

Skills & Experience

• Ability to work within a positive behaviour support framework and approved restrictive practices
• Complex health care support including medication administration
• Experience in complex behaviour supports and AOD
• An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
• A current First Aid and CPR Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check, Working With Children Check (Blue Card) and obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
