Job summary

Life Without Barriers is hiring a Casual Disability Support Worker in Broken Hill to provide person-centred support to clients with disability in community and supported living settings.

You will assist with personal care, daily living activities, and community engagement while ensuring safety and dignity for clients. A NSW driver’s license and current First Aid certificate are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted NSW driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle.
• Ability to use basic technology on mobile/desktop devices.
• Current First Aid Certificate HLTAID003 or HLTAID011.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred active support to people living with disability.
• Support in Shared Living environments or at home, including personal care and daily living tasks.
• Engage clients in activities and community participation.
• Assist with complex needs and follow behaviour/meal plans as directed.
• Maintain safety and well-being through adherence to NDIS expectations.
• Document care provided and communicate clearly with the team.
• Maintain cleanliness and offer domestic assistance as needed.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disability. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Get involved in feel-good activities at home and out in the community
• Full personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing and grooming
• Engage in watching weekly sporting events – big tick if you are an AFL fan!
• Support clients to make everyday spaces shine through domestic assistance
• Confidently support clients with complex needs
• Follow behaviour management and mealtime management plans
• Encourage community participation
• 1 on 1 supports within the community

Skills & Experience

• An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
• Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
• A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
