Job summary

Unidex Healthcare is seeking experienced and reliable Disability Support Workers to provide ongoing support to a male participant in Redlynch, Cairns, living with a spinal cord injury. The role involves personal care, manual handling and assistance with daily living while promoting independence.

Shifts run 8:00 am to 3:30 pm on a 7-day roster; candidate must have relevant certifications, a current driver licence and police/NDIS checks.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Disability, Aged Care or equivalent.
• Current Australian Driver Licence.
• Current National Police Check (within 12 months).
• Current Blue Card.
• Current Yellow Card / NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
• NDIS Supporting Effective Communication Module.
• Medication Administration Certificate.
• Experience in disability support c with complex needs.
• Confidence with personal care and manual handling.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, showering, dressing and hygiene.
• Provide domestic assistance and household tasks.
• Prepare meals.
• Perform manual handling and transfers.
• Administer medications as trained.
• Support community access and appointments as required.
• Assist family and carers as needed.
• Promote participant independence and daily goal attainment.

The Role

Unidex Healthcare is seeking experienced and reliable Disability Support Workers to provide ongoing support to a male participant located in Redlynch, Cairns, who is living with a spinal cord injury.

This role requires confident support workers who are comfortable providing personal care, manual handling and assistance with daily living while promoting the participant's independence and quality of life.

Shift Times

8:00 am - 3:30 pm daily
Shifts are available across a 7-day roster.

Duties

• Assistance with personal care, including showering, dressing and hygiene

• Domestic assistance and general household tasks

• Meal preparation

• Manual handling, including transfers

• Medication administration

• Community access and assistance with appointments where required

• Parental and family assistance

• Supporting the participant to maintain independence and achieve daily goals

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants will require:

• Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care or equivalent

• Current Australian Driver Licence

• Current National Police Check (within 12 months)

• Current Blue Card

• Current Yellow Card / NDIS Worker Screening Clearance

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module

• NDIS Supporting Effective Communication Module

• Medication Administration Certificate

• Previous disability support experience, ideally supporting participants with complex physical care needs

• Confidence with personal care and manual handling

• Strong communication skills

• A reliable, proactive and positive approach to support
