Job summary

Accord Care in Redbank Plains, QLD is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to assist a male participant with complex needs and high behaviours of concern. You will provide person-centred care, de-escalation, PBSP adherence, and support with daily living and community participation.

You will work 1:1 during the day and 2:1 at night, with roster flexibility across day/night shifts. A current NDIS Worker Screening clearance is required, along with a strong commitment to safety,

Qualifications

• Experience in disability support for complex needs.
• Experience in mental health support.
• Experience handling physical aggression and property damage.
• Knowledge of positive behaviour support and de-escalation.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and ability to follow support plans.
• Ability to identify triggers and respond to minimise risks.
• Ability to work as part of a team, including 2:1 support.
• Flexibility to cover day and night rosters.
• NDIS Worker Screening clearance and other required clearances.
• Commitment to person-centred care and participant safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support promoting independence and dignity.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care.
• Support participant with complex mental health needs.
• Respond calmly to behaviours of concern, including aggression.
• Identify triggers and implement proactive strategies to reduce escalation.
• Apply PBSP and other support plans.
• Use de-escalation techniques to maintain safety.
• Follow restrictive practice requirements and policies.
• Complete incident reports and maintain documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality support.
• Maintain professional boundaries and promote positive outcomes.
