Job summary

Accord Care in Brisbane is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to support a male participant with complex needs, including high behaviours of concern, in Redbank Plains, QLD. This role involves 1:1 daytime and 2:1 night support, with focus on PBSP adherence and de-escalation.

You will promote independence, dignity and choice, respond to behaviours calmly, and work within a team to ensure safe, high-quality care. Relevant clearances and a person-centred approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and high behaviours of concern.
• Experience in mental health support and de-escalation strategies.
• Ability to follow support plans and workplace procedures.
• Commitment to person-centred care and participant safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support promoting independence and dignity.
• Assist with daily living activities and community participation.
• Support the participant with complex mental health needs.
• Respond calmly to behaviours of concern, including aggression and property damage.
• Identify triggers and implement proactive strategies to minimise escalation.
• Apply PBSP and relevant support plans; follow restrictive practice requirements.
• Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure safe, high-quality support.
• Maintain professional boundaries and participant wellbeing.
