Job summary

Cerebral Palsy Alliance in Elanora Heights, NSW, Australia, is seeking a dedicated Disability Support Practitioner (DSP) for our Accommodation and Respite service. This permanent part-time role offers approximately 20 hours per week across a variety of shifts.

  • Support clients with daily living tasks, including cooking, mealtimes, cleaning, and general household activities

  • Assist with mobility and manual handling, including the use of specialised equipment such as hoists
  • Monitor and document client wellbeing, reporting any changes
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a supportive and positive team environment

Role Purpose

The Disability Support Worker role at Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) exists to provide high-quality, person-centred support to people with disability. You will play a vital role in empowering clients to live as independently as possible by helping them achieve their goals and supporting their day-to-day wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

About the Clients

Our Elanora Heights group home is home to several male clients who have lived together for a long time. They have a strong bond and are a happy, fun and engaging group. Clients can range in age from their early 20s through to more mature-aged clients. Individuals living in CPA group homes may have a variety of disabilities, including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down syndrome, and other intellectual or physical disabilities. Clients may also present with differing levels of medical needs and behaviours, requiring varying levels of support.

Role Overview

We are looking for one dedicated Disability Support Practitioner (DSP) to join our Accommodation and Respite service at our Elanora Heights group home. This is a Permanent Part-Time opportunity, offering approximately 20 hours per week across a variety of shifts. As a Disability Support Worker in a CPA SIL home, you will provide compassionate, person-centred support in a domestic setting, helping clients live as independently as possible while supporting their individual needs, choices and goals.

An Active & Social Home

This is an active household, and the clients enjoy getting out into the community and participating in a range of activities. The home has a pool on site, and clients regularly participate in activities such as:

  • Swimming and pool-based activities
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Visits to the ocean pool
  • Community outings and recreational activities
  • Social and relationship-based activities
Key Responsibilities

Shift Times

May include Early mornings: 6:00am – 9:00am Day shifts: 9:00am – 3:00pm Afternoon/evening shifts: 3:00pm – 6:00pm / 7:00pm / 8:00pm / 9:00pm Awake overnight: 10:00pm/11:00pm – 6:00am/7:00am
