Life Without Barriers is seeking a Disability Support Leader for permanent full-time work in the Ballina region, overseeing two SIL homes and a team of Disability Support Workers. The role requires on-call involvement every six weeks and occasional travel to support coordinated service delivery.

The successful candidate will have prior leadership in disability or mental health services, strong negotiation and creative problem-solving abilities, and a Diploma in Social & Community Services or

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate high-volume 24/7 service operations for 2 SIL properties – Ballina & Lismore.
• Guide and inspire a team of Disability Support Workers with a collaborative approach.
• Maintain clear role distinctions and provide decisive leadership.
• Ensure continuity of support services through coverage of unexpected leave.
• Foster a culture of resilience and adaptability.
• Encourage staff competency in active support and complex client care.
• Manage crisis situations and complex behavioural incidents.
• Act as liaison with families navigating complex care dynamics.
• Collaborate nationally to maintain service alignment.
• Balance demands, ensuring mandatory reporting, compliance, risk management and resource optimization.

About the role

Provide personalised coaching and mentoring to a team of Disability Support Workers, focusing on skill development and best practices, while overseeing the operations of 2 Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes. The role involves an on-call component once every 6 weeks as well as occasional travel.

• Continuity of support services through management of unexpected leave coverage
• Foster a culture of resilience and adaptability
• Encourage staff competency in active support and complex client care
• Effectively manage crisis situations and complex behavioural incidents
• Act as a key liaison with families, navigating complex care dynamics
• National collaboration to maintain service alignment
• Balance competing demands, ensuring completion of mandatory reporting, compliance, risk management, and resource optimisation

Skills & Experience

• Previous leadership experience within the delivery of services to people with disability and/or mental health
• Established influencing and negotiation skills
• Ability to think creatively and problem solve
• Diploma in relevant Social & Community Services or relevant experience
• Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).

• Hourly rate of $46.70 as per Level 4 SCHADS award
