Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti Australia is seeking a Director Open Pit Mining to develop robust life-of-mine plans for the Australian Region's Open Pit assets, identifying constraints and evaluating sustainable options. You will lead development and optimization of LOM strategies, drive value creation, and maintain strong stakeholder relations.

Based in Perth with travel to mine sites, you will bring fifteen years of Open Pit mining experience and strong cost modelling skills.

Qualifications

• A degree qualification in a relevant mining-related discipline.
• A minimum of fifteen years' experience in the industry with demonstrated experience working on Open Pit gold mining projects.
• Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to identify impacts and opportunities.
• Experience using mining packages is essential.
• Familiarity with Vulcan, Surpac, Whittle, Alastri, MineMax highly desirable.
• Exposure to first principles cost modelling and financial analysis.
• Ability to obtain National Police Clearance and Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of life-of mine (LOM) Open Pit asset options to optimise value for the Australia Region.
• Ensure alignment between physicals and cost profiles; assess scenarios on value metrics.
• Drive value creation across Open Pit Strategic Planning through continuous improvement.
• Manage delivery of results within the business planning cycle and study timelines.
• Develop systems and processes to support the Open Pit Planning Department.
• Build organisational capability within the Australia Business Unit.
• Provide expert Open Pit mining support services to operations.
• Lead reporting of Open Pit Ore Reserves for the Australia Business Unit with technical sign-off.
