Job summary

CareCone Group is seeking an Observability Engineer to enable engineering and support teams to gain actionable insights from logs, metrics, and traces using Splunk and Dynatrace. You will help onboarding services, build dashboards, and configure meaningful alerts to improve visibility and reliability.

You will collaborate with global platform teams to reduce alert noise, refine alert logic, and ensure dashboards are used effectively by squads for incident detection and operational monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience configuring alerts and reports.
• Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM).
• Can provide consultation to teams on synthetic monitoring aspects.
• Understanding of web applications, APIs, middleware, and infrastructure components.

Role: Observability Engineer (Splunk + Dynatrace)

Location: Sydney

Job Description:

• We are seeking an Observability Engineer to support application and infrastructure teams in leveraging enterprise observability platforms, primarily Splunk and Dynatrace.
• This role is focused on enabling teams to gain actionable insights from logs, metrics, and traces by ensuring services are onboarded correctly, dashboards are developed, and meaningful alerts are configured.
• The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to engineering and support teams, helping them improve system visibility, operational monitoring, incident detection, and service reliability using existing observability platforms managed by global platform teams.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with application teams to understand monitoring requirements and assist with onboarding.
• Design and develop operational dashboards in Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Configure and maintain alerts based on application and infrastructure requirements. Reduce alert noise by refining alert logic and escalation criteria.
• Define thresholds, anomaly detection rules, and notification channels.
• Develop Splunk searches, reports, and queries.
• Provide education session to the squads to enable them to use these dashboards and alerts effectively.
