Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

A major Australin Organisation is seeking a Senior Observability Engineer for an initial 6 month contract likely to extend.

This role will help define telemetry standards, support and deliver data ingestion pipelines, ensures high data quality for downstream AiOps and mentor to the observability engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Design and scale the enterprise observability infrastructure, ensuring high availability and resilience of telemetry ingestion pipelines
• Define and enforce tagging, tracing, and metrics standards across the business environments, core systems and applications.
• Act as an escalation point and technical mentor for offshore observability engineers, conducting code reviews for IaC and instrumentation libraries

Key Skills / experience:

• 5+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevSecOps or Observability with a proven track record of designing and scaling telemetry pipelines for large, distributed systems.
• 5+ years of Observability and Monitoring of complex systems and services alongside high traffic volumes
• Core Observability: Advanced knowledge of telemetry, OTel, Observability patterns and large scale monitoring of complex systems
• Platforms: Advanced administration and integration experience with Dynatrace and Datadog or relative APM tooling
• Automation & IaC: Strong skills and knowledge of IaC, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) to deliver monitoring as code.
• Coding: Proficiency in Python or similar for building custom exporters, operators or automation scripts.
