Job summary

Argo Natural Resources is a people-led mining business operating in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. This Ironbark No. 1 development role focuses on safely advancing underground development, operating equipment, and installing underground services.

You’ll support ground control tasks, maintain safety standards, and contribute to production targets in a team environment. Based at Ironbark with rotating days and nights, this role requires current Standard 11 competencies and a Queensland Coal Board

Qualifications

• Experience in an underground coal mine is essential.
• Operate development mining equipment, including Joy Miners and related machinery.
• Install and maintain underground services (ventilation, water, air, cables).
• Carry out ground support tasks including roof bolting and mesh installation.
• Hold Standard 11 competencies for both surface and underground operations.
• Possess a current Queensland Coal Board Medical.
• Commit to workplace health and safety and site procedures.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We currently have multiple exciting opportunities available at our Ironbark No. 1 operation for experienced Development Underground Coal Mine Operators to join and support our development crews.

You will report directly to the ERZ Controller and be responsible for safely contributing to production targets while supporting efficiency across all related operations. Your role will involve the preparation, planning, and timely execution of daily tasks in alignment with the approved weekly work schedules.

ABOUT YOU

As an experienced Development Operator, you'll play a key role in operating equipment and supporting infrastructure installations to ensure the safe and efficient progress of our underground development operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Experience working in an underground coal mine (essential – applicants without this experience will not be considered).
• Operate and assist with development mining equipment, including:
• Continuous Miner (Joy Miners, 12cm12 and 12cm30’s).
• Install and maintain underground services (ventilation, water, air, cables)
• Carry out ground support tasks including roof bolting and mesh installation
• Current Standard 11 competencies for both surface and underground operations.
• A current Queensland Coal Board Medical.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, including hazard identification, risk management and adherence to site procedures.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a strong focus on production targets and operational priorities.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to accurately complete shift reports and operational documentation.
• A proactive, dependable approach to work, with a willingness to contribute to a positive, team-oriented and safety-focused workplace.
