Job summary

Argo Natural Resources in Queensland’s Bowen Basin is seeking experienced Development Underground Coal Mine Operators to join our Ironbark No. 1 team.

In this role you will report to the ERZ Controller and safely contribute to production targets while ensuring efficient progress of development work. You will operate development mining equipment, install underground services, and perform ground support tasks in a safety-focused, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Underground coal mining experience is essential.
• Experience operating development mining equipment including Continuous Miner.
• Current Standard 11 competencies for surface and underground operations.
• A current Queensland Coal Board Medical.
• Strong commitment to safety, hazard identification and risk management.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet production targets.
• Ability to accurately complete shift reports and operational documentation.
• Proactive, dependable, safe-work attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate development mining equipment including Continuous Miner.
• Install and maintain underground services (ventilation, water, air, cables).
• Carry out ground support tasks such as roof bolting and mesh installation.
• Prepare and execute daily tasks in line with approved weekly schedules.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We currently have multiple exciting opportunities available at our Ironbark No. 1 operation for experienced Development Underground Coal Mine Operators to join and support our development crews.

You will report directly to the ERZ Controller and be responsible for safely contributing to production targets while supporting efficiency across all related operations. Your role will involve the preparation, planning, and timely execution of daily tasks in alignment with the approved weekly work schedules.

ABOUT YOU

As an experienced Development Operator, you'll play a key role in operating equipment and supporting infrastructure installations to ensure the safe and efficient progress of our underground development operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Experience working in an underground coal mine (essential – applicants without this experience will not be considered).
• Operate and assist with development mining equipment, including:
• Continuous Miner (Joy Miners, 12cm12 and 12cm30’s).
• Install and maintain underground services (ventilation, water, air, cables)
• Carry out ground support tasks including roof bolting and mesh installation
• Current Standard 11 competencies for both surface and underground operations.
• A current Queensland Coal Board Medical.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, including hazard identification, risk management and adherence to site procedures.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a strong focus on production targets and operational priorities.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to accurately complete shift reports and operational documentation.
• A proactive, dependable approach to work, with a willingness to contribute to a positive, team-oriented and safety-focused workplace.
