Job summary

vitae group in Melbourne is seeking a capable 2iC to organise the transport run, coordinate delivery with drivers, and provide real-time updates to sites.

You will liaise with warehouse staff and builders, monitor driver performance, and ensure efficient, compliant dispatch in a fast-paced environment. Previous timber/building materials experience is preferred, with strong CRM and leadership skills.

Job description

As the 2iC, you'll be organising the transport run, co-ordinating delivery schedules with driver allocation and regular contact with the drivers

Monitoring driver performance, route efficiency to improve productivity and reduce operational delays.

Ensuring no truck leaves the yard unchecked - this is where your previous experience in timber and hardware or building products will come in handy

Liaise with warehouse staff, builder customers, and where necessary external transport providers to resolve delivery issues and maintain effective communication across operations.

Provide real-time updates on deliveries to site, checking in with drivers and being the key point of contact

Good admin skills to update Excel and Microsoft Office - the CRM can be learnt.

What we are looking for

You have worked in the despatch function with a building materials supplier with a preference given to those coming from a timber and hardware business

Excellent communication skills - the ability to communicate effectively with drivers and builders in a calm manner in a fast paced environment

Strong problem-solving and customer service skills, with a solutions-focused mindset

Solid knowledge of Melbourne suburbs so you're able to organise the most efficient runs

Strong leadership skills and experience demonstrated over a minimum of 3 years.

Proficient in using CRM systems to drive growth
