Dental on Beams in Carseldine, Brisbane, is seeking a Practice Manager to lead the team, enhance patient experience, and drive effective rostering and payroll processes. This role is best for someone who thrives on people-focused operations and enjoys shaping the workflow on the floor with collaboration from dentists and management.
You’ll work in a digital-first environment with a small, close-knit team, and a clear path to grow within the practice as it continues to support patients and staff
Every workplace has a heart. In a dental practice, it’s the person who notices a new assistant is nervous before their first big procedure, and makes time to talk it through. They hear the steriliser running louder than usual, and get it looked at before it breaks. They keep complex cases on track for patients and dentists. They always know what’s coming next, so a full book never turns into a messy day. They make sure every patient leaves feeling looked after, not just treated.
We’d love that person to be our new Practice Manager.
Dental on Beams is a practice in Carseldine with 8 support staff, and 5 dentists who work collaboratively with the team rather than above it. You’ll have an office for the work that needs a quiet space, but this role is done best out on the floor.
You’re naturally organised. You like a good system, and you can tell what needs doing today and what can wait. We’ll teach you our systems, but this role suits someone who does this naturally, and heads home on time knowing exactly where everything’s at.
You build trust easily, with the team and the dentists. You can tell someone kindly and clearly when something isn’t working, and still share a laugh at lunch. You’re comfortable in a digital workplace, since our systems are online and much of our communication happens through messages, calls and emails.
Dental experience is a big plus, but we care more about how you work with people than the exact path you’ve taken. If you’ve led a team in healthcare or a service setting, we’d still like to hear from you.
First and foremost, the team. You’ll work alongside them, coach them and help each person grow in their role. You’ll look after the patient experience, from how patients are greeted to how quickly a problem gets sorted. You’ll stay on top of repairs, staffing requests and ideas for doing things better, and follow them through so nothing slips. You’ll bring in new systems and help everyone settle into them, and keep the conversation open between the team, the dentists and our management team. You’ll have room to make the role your own.
Our admin team handles rosters, payroll, accounts and policy updates, so your focus stays on people. We keep an eye on the numbers, but only because they show us where things could be better.
Practice Manager roles can be lonely. You’re at the top of the team, with no one to bounce ideas off. That’s not how it works here.
You’ll have fellow practice managers who know exactly what your days look like. You’ll check in with each other most days about how everyone’s going, and who might need a hand. Once a month, you’ll meet just outside Ipswich (about 45 minutes from Brisbane) for a management meeting with lunch and professional development, and you can train alongside them too. Training with them isn’t essential, but it’s a great head start. We’ll pay your travel time and costs, or shorten the day so you leave and get home at your usual times.
We might sound big, but we’re not a corporate. Our senior managers know every one of our 100+ team by name, and something about them too. They’re offsite, but they’ll know you well, mentor you as you grow into the role, and give you advice in the moment when you need it. If things start to snowball, they’ll step in to help, or sit down with you to agree what matters today and plan for the rest. We listen, work things out together and lead by example. Our job is to work for our teams.
