Job summary

JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa on the Gold Coast is seeking a Demi Chef to join the luxury kitchen team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will assist in preparing menu items, maintaining high standards of quality and freshness, and contributing to a smooth service during busy periods.

The successful candidate will have experience in a 4-5 star hotel kitchen, trade qualification, strong food safety knowledge, and the ability to work well in a team while also taking initiative.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role in a 4-5 star hotel kitchen.
• Trade qualification.
• Strong food safety knowledge.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh ingredients for cooking according to recipes/menu
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food before use.
• Cook food and prepare top-quality menu items in a timely manner
• Test foods to ensure proper preparation and temperature
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
• Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers
• Delegate tasks within department and run shift
