Job summary

Crystalbrook Flynn in Cairns is seeking a Demi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. You will be hands-on across preparation, cooking and presentation, seasoning and marinating to roasting and pan-frying high-quality meats, seafood and produce.

You'll help maintain service flow, monitor stock to minimise waste, assist with ordering and planning, ensure food safety and cleanliness, and support junior kitchen team members on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
• Confident preparation, cooking and presentation across a variety of ingredients and techniques.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to support junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on across preparation, cooking and presentation, including seasoning, marinating, roasting, grilling and pan-frying.
• Assist with ordering and preparation planning; monitor stock to minimise waste and spoilage.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen; uphold high standards of flavour and visual appeal.
• Support junior members of the kitchen team and adapt to a rotating roster including weekends/holidays.
