Job summary

Novotel Surfers Paradise is seeking a Demi Chef to join our hotel kitchen brigade. You will contribute to a high standard of service, work collaboratively with a team, and adhere to kitchen policies and food safety standards.

We are looking for a professional with a Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery, at least 2 years’ experience, and a passion for all kitchen sections including banquets, buffets and a la carte. The role is permanent part-time with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience in all sections including banquets, buffet and à la carte.
• HACCP compliance, food safety procedures and OH&S regulations.
• Commitment to allergen protocols and allergens handling.
• Intermediate computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of the kitchen and work in a team to provide quality service.
• Maintain cleanliness and health & safety standards in the kitchen.
• Proper storage and labeling of food to prevent spoilage and manage costs.
• Assist in supervising junior kitchen staff and running sections in the Chef De Partie's absence.
