Job summary

Rydges South Bank Brisbane, part of EVT's family of brands, is seeking a Demi Chef on a Fulltime basis. You will work across restaurant, room service, banquet and conference operations, delivering high-quality food for intimate meetings to large galas.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in commercial cookery, or working towards one.
• Experience across la carte, banquet, or large-scale event catering.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure across varied events calendar.
• Strong attention to detail in food quality and presentation.
• Team player with willingness to learn from senior chefs.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including mornings, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items across restaurant, room service, banquet and conference operations.
• Work efficiently across assigned sections, maintaining consistency and presentation during service.
• Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef with mise en place, stock rotation, and daily kitchen prep.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and WHS procedures, including storage and labelling of stock.
• Assist with planning and execution of conference and event catering.
• Maintain a clean, organised, well-stocked section, minimising waste and costs.
• Support training and development of Apprentices and junior kitchen staff.
• Communicate with Front of House and events teams to ensure smooth service.
