Job summary

REA Group is seeking a Principal Product Manager (Data Platform) to lead the evolution of a scalable, market-leading data platform. You will work at the intersection of technology, data, product, design and business to shape the platform vision and translate stakeholder needs into measurable outcomes.

You will champion data literacy and a data-as-product mindset, driving adoption of the data mesh operating model and ensuring governance, security and usability across REA’s data platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in senior product management or strategic product leadership in complex technology or data environments.
• Deep understanding of platforms that enable scalability and improved digital experiences.
• Experience leading evolution of established data, technology or developer platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data products, data platforms, data mesh, self-service, governance and modern cloud technologies.
• Proven ability to work with engineering, architecture, design, data and business stakeholders in an agile delivery environment.
• Track record of solving complex, unstructured, ambiguous problems.
• Strong strategic thinking and systems-level perspective connecting long-term vision to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate a compelling vision and roadmap for REA’s Data Platform, aligned to company strategy and data strategy.
• Translate priorities into outcomes and build/buy/partner recommendations.
• Lead the product direction for REA’s data platform, predominantly built on Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Atlan, Airflow, Apache Kafka, Soda and Tableau.
• Shape capabilities that improve scalability, reliability, quality, security, governance, discoverability, and developer and data experience.
• Drive adoption of platform capabilities and the data mesh operating model across REA.
• Identify, prioritise and sequence valuable platform opportunities with engineering, architecture, data and product teams.
• Assess stakeholder needs and customer insights to identify the most important problems to solve.
• Build partnerships across the business to align data needs and roadmaps.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders with technical fluency and commercial acumen.
