Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a Data Centre Technician to join our world-class facilities team. You will work in large-scale, high-density data centers, supporting rack installation, power and cooling, and incident response.

The role involves on-call rotations, collaboration with engineers and contractors, and contributing to operational efficiency while upholding safety and security standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of computer networking experience
• 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Experience in computer networking
• Experience working with Linux operating systems
• Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
• Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritising and resolving trouble tickets efficiently
• Deep diving into server issues and remediation of physical layer outages
• Remediation of power and cooling issues on racks and platforms
• Participate in Data Centre power and cooling events
• Meet 24x7 on-call requirements and respond during shift rotations
• Install and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs
• Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region
• Data Centre point of contact for High Severity issues
• Physical replacement of server and network device parts
• Ensure correct rotation of parts and spares
• Help define metrics to increase customer uptime
• Interact with third party vendors and contractors
• Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency
• Participate in and deliver on high impact projects
• Mentor less technical staff on best practices related to service owner issues
• Contribute towards Amazon hiring process/candidate interviews
