Job summary

Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd is seeking a Data Centre Technician to support one of the world’s largest computing infrastructures. You will engage with engineers, vendors and internal customers to ensure uptime, rack and hardware maintenance, and incident response across our Melbourne data centres.

The role requires at least 1 year in networking and Linux, a bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field, and the ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of computer networking experience.
• 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in computer networking and working with Linux operating systems.
• Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
• Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.

Responsibilities

• Serve as escalation point and technical troubleshooter for systems and problems.
• Remediate physical layer outages and power issues on racks.
• Meet 24x7 on-call requirements and participate in shift rotations.
• Install and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs.
• Triage and resolve trouble tickets for devices in the region.
• Interact with third-party vendors and contractors to maintain operations.
• Participate in high-impact small to mid-scale projects.
