Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital is seeking a casual Instrument Technician Grade 1 to join the Central Sterile Supply Department. The role offers flexible hours and an opportunity to support safe, high-quality patient care by cleaning, inspecting, packing, sterilising and distributing surgical instruments.

You will maintain sterile stock levels, support infection control and audits, and work with theatre and clinical teams to ensure availability of instruments and equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a busy environment.
• Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn.
• Understanding of infection control, workplace health and safety, and compliance requirements.
• A Mayfield Certificate or CSSD experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, pack, sterilise and distribute surgical instruments and sterile supplies.
• Maintain sterile stock levels across the hospital and support infection control and quality standards.
• Complete department documentation and audits.
• Collaborate with Operating Theatre and clinical teams to ensure instruments and equipment are available when needed.
