Job summary

Rio Tinto in Gladstone is seeking a seasoned Manager to lead Communities & Social Performance (CSP) across BSL, Yarwun and QAL. You will shape CSP strategy, manage a team of professionals and build trusted relationships with Traditional Owners and local stakeholders.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive social investment, partnerships and risk management to sustain social licence and create shared value for the business and regional communities in a heavy-industry setting.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in Communities & Social Performance, stakeholder engagement, community relations or government relations.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high performing teams.
• Strong understanding of social performance principles and community engagement in complex operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead CSP strategy development and annual plan for Gladstone operations.
• Provide leadership and coaching to a team of CSP professionals.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with Traditional Owners and local stakeholders.
• Develop understanding of community priorities to inform decisions and mitigate risk.
• Lead stakeholder engagement to strengthen Rio Tinto's social licence to operate.
• Identify and manage community partnerships and commitments delivering shared value.
• Oversee social investment programs and community initiatives.
• Monitor CSP performance, including stakeholder engagement effectiveness and grievance resolution.
• Collaborate across Functions to achieve CSP outcomes.
