Wilmar Sugar Australia Limited is seeking an experienced Crushing/Turbine Operator for Plane Creek Mill, Sarina, North Queensland. The role involves operating cane feeding, preparation and crushing stations, with shift rosters during crushing and day work in maintenance periods.

Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate, and permanent, year-round employment is offered in a diverse, industrial setting within North Queensland.

Qualifications

• Experience in sugar milling or heavy-industry operations is highly regarded.
• Tickets such as HRWL Turbine Operator, Confined Space Entry and working at heights are preferred.
• Willingness to train for additional qualifications and adapt to shift work.

Responsibilities

• Operate cane feeding, preparation and crushing stations and related plant.
• Monitor plant using SCADA systems and report process issues.
• Maintain logs, shift reports and respond to production changes.
• Perform routine maintenance to keep milling train safe and reliable.
• Assist tradespeople with maintenance and plant isolations when required.
• Adhere to safety practices and permit-to-work procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping around equipment and work areas.

As a Crushing/Turbine Operator, you'll play an important role in keeping our sugar mill operating safely and efficiently. You'll operate the cane feeding, preparation and crushing stations and associated plant while working closely with the operations shift team.
This is a permanent position offering the security of year-round employment.
During the crushing season, you'll work a continuous rotating shift roster, which may include weekends and occasional overtime. Once crushing is complete and the mill moves into the maintenance period, you'll transition to a day work roster.
It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, working with complex industrial equipment and being part of a team where every shift matters.

Your Role in Action

• Operate: Safely operate the cane feeding, preparation and crushing stations and associated plant.
• Monitor: Use the Citect SCADA system to monitor and control plant operations.
• Problem Solve: Identify process problems, rate restrictions and operational issues and report them to the supervisor.
• Keep Things Moving: Complete operational logs and shift stop reports and respond to changing production requirements.
• Maintain: Carry out regular operational maintenance to support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the milling train.
• Work Together: Assist tradespeople with maintenance activities and plant isolations when required.
• Safety First: Participate in risk assessments and follow isolation and permit-to-work processes.
• Keep it Clean: Maintain high housekeeping standards around the shredder, milling train gearing, platforms and surrounding work areas.

Your Winning Combination

We’re looking for people who are safety-focused, mechanically minded and comfortable working in a demanding industrial environment.
Experience in sugar milling, power generation, heavy manufacturing, mining, processing or other continuous-process industries will be highly regarded.
Ideally, you will have:

• Confined Space Entry
• Working Safely at Heights
• HRWL Turbine Operator (TO) – highly desirable
• Common User Competencies
• HRWL Dogger, Basic Rigger, EWP and Scaffolding – desirable but not essential
