Job summary

BankVic is seeking a Credit Assessment Specialist for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Melbourne. You will review lending applications, provide timely credit decisions, and guide lending scenarios and policy.

The role supports compliance and coaching across the lending process within a collaborative team. Ideal candidates will have extensive lending assessment experience, familiarity with AFSL/ACL obligations, NCCP, and RG146 Tier 2 certification (or willingness to complete).

• Extensive lending assessment experience and end-to-end lending process knowledge.
• Experience reviewing applications and advising on deal structures.
• Strong knowledge of financial services regulation including AFSL/ACL and NCCP.
• RG146 Tier 2 certification or willingness to complete training.

The opportunity: Reporting to the Senior Credit Manager, you’ll play an important role in reviewing lending applications and making sound, timely credit decisions in line with BankVic’s lending policies and procedures. Working closely with our lending teams, you’ll provide expert guidance on lending scenarios, deal structures and products, while supporting quality and compliance standards across the lending process. You’ll also use your credit expertise to provide coaching and training, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to strong outcomes for our members.

What you’ll be doing:

• Review credit applications submitted by our lending teams and provide timely lending decisions within established service levels.
• Approve credit facilities within your delegated lending authority.
• Provide guidance on lending scenarios, deal structures, lending products and policy.
• Partner with lending teams to maintain strong quality and compliance standards.
• Provide coaching and training on loan file quality, missing information and adherence to lending policies and procedures.
• Identify and contribute to credit process improvements that enhance operational outcomes.
• Maintain strong knowledge of BankVic products and services, lending requirements and relevant regulatory obligations.
• Support the prevention and detection of industry fraud and corruption.

Who we are looking for: You’ll bring extensive lending assessment experience and a strong understanding of the end-to-end lending process, from application through to settlement. You’ll be confident reviewing applications, providing advice on lending structures and making well-reasoned credit decisions.

• Previous lending approval authority of $1.2 million+.
• Experience reviewing lending applications and providing advice on deal structures.
• Strong knowledge of financial services regulation, including AFSL and ACL obligations, Privacy legislation and responsible lending requirements under the NCCP Act.
• RG146 Tier 2 certification, or willingness to complete the required training.
• Strong numerical, analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, planning and time management.
• The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a busy team.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
