Job summary

Sail Central Coast and Broken Bay Yacht Charter are seeking a capable, energetic Coxswain to join our growing charter operation based at Hardys Bay, NSW. You will help prepare and operate two Seawind 1160 catamarans across Brisbane Water and Pittwater, delivering memorable private and corporate charters.

This hands-on role blends vessel prep, maintenance, deckhand duties and charter service, with opportunities to learn, take ownership and progress toward skipper responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Held AMSA Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal certificate or higher.
• Own reliable vehicle with a current driver license.
• Live within practical travelling distance of Hardys Bay.
• Available to begin in the near future.
• Weekend work and busy charter periods availability.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cleaning vessels before and after charters.
• Fuelling, provisioning and completing routine vessel checks.
• Deckhanding on private and corporate charters.
• Assisting guests and delivering a professional charter experience.
• Maintaining high standards of vessel presentation.
• Assisting with maintenance and safety equipment aboard the vessels.
• Moving and preparing vessels as required.

Sail Central Coast and Broken Bay Yacht Charter are looking for a capable, energetic and dependable person to join our growing charter operation. Based primarily at Hardys Bay, we operate private and corporate sailing charters aboard two Seawind 1160 catamarans across Brisbane Water, Broken Bay, Pittwater and the surrounding waterways.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining vessel preparation and maintenance with deckhand and charter work. It is not simply a deckhand position. We are looking for someone who can learn the vessels and operation thoroughly, take ownership of practical responsibilities and become a trusted part of the business.

For the right person, there is genuine scope to progress into regular skippering and, over time, potentially take on a senior local role coordinating vessel readiness, maintenance and day-to-day charter operations. Any progression would depend on experience, performance and the needs of the business.

• Assisting with maintenance, safety equipment and practical work aboard the vessels


• Moving and preparing vessels as operationally required


• Learning our vessels, local operating areas and charter procedures


• Gradually taking greater responsibility as experience and trust develop

About you

• Hold an AMSA Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal certificate or higher, or are actively completing the qualification


• Have your own reliable vehicle and a current driver licence


• Live within practical travelling distance of Hardys Bay


• Are available to begin in the near future


• Are regularly available for weekend work and during busy charter periods


• Are physically capable and willing to undertake cleaning, lifting and general vessel work


• Are dependable, responsive and able to work independently


• Take initiative and pride in completing practical work properly


• Are professional, personable and comfortable dealing with charter guests


• Are interested in developing your skills and taking on greater responsibility over time

Previous catamaran, sailing or charter experience would be valuable, but extensive experience is not essential. We are prepared to train someone with the right attitude, work ethic and commitment.
