Job summary

Department of Communities and Justice in NSW is recruiting Correctional Officers to work across prisons and court cells. You will supervise and manage inmates in secured environments, perform headcounts, searches, monitor movements and support programs, using judgement and teamwork daily.

The role includes 12-week paid training, a nationally recognised Certificate III in Correctional Practice, and competitive base salary with uniform and environment allowances plus 13% employer superannuation

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Hold a current Provisional P1 Drivers Licence.
• Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Willing to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
• Meet medical standards and have reasonable level of fitness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage inmates in secured environments.
• Conduct headcounts and searches.
• Monitor movements and support work programs.
• Assist in situations requiring calm, clear decision-making.
• Use of force training and procedures where appropriate.
