Job summary

Glenorchy City Council is seeking a Coordinator Connected Community to plan, coordinate and deliver initiatives that strengthen belonging and participation across the city.

You will lead a dedicated team, work with Council and the broader community, and drive programs, partnerships and projects that improve wellbeing and create positive outcomes for residents.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in community development, community services, social sciences, engagement, local government or related field.
  • Extensive experience designing, delivering and evaluating programs, projects, partnerships or place-based initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability.
  • Experience managing community-focused projects, grants, budgets, risks and priorities.
  • Ability to translate Council priorities into measurable outcomes.
  • Commitment to inclusive and ethical practice, including accessibility, cultural safety, child safety and respectful engagement.

Responsibilities

Glenorchy City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator Connected Community to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of initiatives that strengthen belonging, inclusion, participation and connection to place across our city.

Reporting to the Manager Community, you will lead a dedicated team and work collaboratively across Council and the broader community to deliver programs, partnerships and projects that improve community wellbeing and create positive outcomes for Glenorchy residents.

About the role:
  • Leading Council's Connected Community priorities and initiatives.
  • Coordinate community development programs, projects and partnerships.
  • Drive outcomes that promote inclusion, cultural diversity, accessibility, community participation and wellbeing.
  • Building strong relationships with community organisations, government agencies, service providers and local stakeholders.
  • Providing strategic advice, reports and recommendations to Council leadership.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team committed to delivering positive community outcomes.
About you:

You are a collaborative and community-focused leader who is passionate about working with people, building trust and creating practical opportunities for connection and participation:

  • Qualifications in community development, community services, social sciences, engagement, local government or a related field, or substantial equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience working with communities to design, deliver and evaluate programs, projects, partnerships or place-based initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability, including the ability to support staff, allocate work and build a positive team culture.
  • Experience managing community-focused projects, grants, budgets, risks and competing priorities.
  • The ability to identify community needs and translate ideas and Council priorities into practical, measurable outcomes.
  • A demonstrated commitment to inclusive and ethical practice, including accessibility, cultural safety, child safety and respectful engagement with diverse communities.

Essential requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial equivalent experience.
  • Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
  • Current Driver Licence.
  • First Aid Certificate.

Position details:

Full-time 76 hour – 9 day fortnight
