Job summary

Glenorchy City Council in Tasmania is seeking an organised Development Administration Officer to support the Development Department with customer service, process guidance and document handling.

You will manage applications, permits, and statutory papers, maintain accurate records in TechnologyOne, and assist with invoicing and archiving. The role offers a 9-day fortnight, flexible hours within a 76-hour fortnight, and a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III/IV in Business (Administration) or equivalent, with experience in a professional office environment.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Team-focused and willing to pitch in where needed.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise systems like TechnologyOne.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver friendly, professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guide customers through the application process and explain requirements.
  • Process applications, permits, correspondence and other statutory documentation.
  • Manage enquiries and maintain accurate records in TechnologyOne.
  • Prepare invoices, follow up unpaid fees and manage documents.
  • Process Start Work Notifications and Occupancy permits.
  • Archive, resubmit and manage files to ensure compliance.
  • Provide general administrative support across Development.

About The Role

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll play an important part in helping customers, supporting regulatory processes and ensuring information is accurate and up to date. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Delivering friendly, professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Guiding customers through the application process and explaining requirements
  • Processing applications, permits, correspondence and other statutory documentation.
  • Managing enquiries and maintaining accurate records in TechnologyOne
  • Preparing invoices, following up unpaid fees and managing application documents
  • Processing required forms for Development such as Start Work Notification, Occupancy permits
  • Archiving, resubmitting and managing files to ensure statutory compliance
  • Providing general administrative support across the Development Department
What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and confident working in a busy administrative environment. You will bring:

  • Certificate III/IV in Business (Administration) or equivalent, along with experience in a professional office environment
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with confidence
  • A team-focused approach and a willingness to pitch in where needed
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic recordkeeping and enterprise systems (e.g., Technology One)

  • Full-time role working 76 hours per fortnight (flexibility within those hours)
