Job summary

New Leaf Cafe in Murwillumbah, NSW is hiring a Cook with at least 1 year of cafe or casual dining experience. The role offers a salary of AUD 75,000–85,000 plus 12% superannuation and requires working 38 hours per week in a full‑time capacity.

We value individuals who can prep breakfast items, sandwiches and daily specials while maintaining high quality, safety and presentation. Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect fresh produce and pantry supplies to ensure high quality.
• Regulate temperatures of grills, ovens and cooktops for consistency.
• Prepare and cook cafe breakfasts, light meals, sandwiches and lunch specials.
• Season dishes to preserve distinct flavour profiles.
• Portion and plate food neatly with house sauces and garnishes.
• Store ingredients with FIFO labeling and temperature control.
• Prepare customized orders for dietary needs or allergies.
• Assist in estimating daily prep and seasonal specials.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect fresh produce and pantry supplies upon delivery to guarantee high quality for all New Leaf Cafe menu offerings.
• Regulate and monitor temperatures of kitchen grills, ovens and cooktops to maintain consistent food preparation standards.
• Prepare and cook cafe breakfasts, light meals, sandwiches and daily lunch specials according to standard cafe recipes.
• Season dishes accurately during cooking to maintain the distinct flavour profiles of our menu.
• Portion and plate food neatly with house sauces and garnishes to ensure clean, appealing meal presentation.
• Store raw ingredients and prepared prep work in temperature-controlled chillers with strict labelling and stock rotation (FIFO).
• Safely prepare customized orders to accommodate customers' special dietary needs or allergen requirements.
• Assist in estimating daily food prep requirements and offering input for upcoming seasonal cafe specials.
• Guide and support junior kitchen staff and apprentices on food prep procedures and kitchen safety practices.

Qualification

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred but not required).
