Job summary

Beach Burrito Co. in Dee Why, NSW is seeking an experienced Full-Time Cook to join our busy kitchen. You will prepare, season and cook a range of Mexican-inspired dishes to our recipes and quality standards, while maintaining food safety practices.

The role requires AQF Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or at least three years of relevant experience). You will work evenings and weekends in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with opportunities to develop your skills within

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (with at least two years on-the-job training).
• AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Three years of relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene procedures and safe storage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, season and cook menu items to recipes and standards.
• Operate grills, ovens, fryers and other commercial equipment.
• Plate and garnish dishes to maintain presentation and consistency.
• Monitor food safety, storage and temperature controls.
• Assist with menu planning, quantities and stock requirements.
• Train and guide junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver efficient service.
• Maintain clean, organised and hygienic kitchen workstations.

About Us

Beach Burrito Co. is all about fresh Mexican-inspired food, good music and a laid-back beachside atmosphere. Located in the heart of Dee Why, we're a busy, established restaurant serving up tacos, burritos, quesadillas and plenty more.

We're looking for an experienced and reliable Full-Time Cook to join our kitchen crew. You'll be working alongside a hands-on team, preparing quality food in a fast-paced environment where consistency, freshness and teamwork matter.

The Role

As a Cook at Beach Burrito Co. Dee Why, you'll be responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking a range of dishes in accordance with our recipes, quality standards and food safety procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

• Examining ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for preparation.
• Preparing, seasoning and cooking menu items, including meats, vegetables, sauces and other Mexican-inspired dishes.
• Operating and regulating temperatures of grills, ovens, fryers and other commercial cooking equipment.
• Portioning, plating and garnishing dishes to maintain presentation and consistency.
• Preparing food to accommodate special dietary requirements and customer requests.
• Monitoring food storage, refrigeration and temperature-controlled facilities to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
• Maintaining clean, organised and hygienic kitchen workstations.
• Assisting with menu planning, food preparation quantities and stock requirements.
• Monitoring stock rotation, minimising food waste and ensuring appropriate food handling practices.
• Assisting with the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required.
• Working collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver efficient service during busy periods.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy restaurant kitchen, takes pride in their food and brings a positive attitude to every shift.

To be considered, applicants should have:

• AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (including at least two years of on-the-job training), or AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery; or
• At least three years of relevant work experience, which may substitute for formal qualifications.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking food in a commercial restaurant environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene procedures and safe food storage.
• Confidence using commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers and ovens.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining food quality and consistency.
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach.
• Availability to work a flexible roster, including evenings and weekends.
