Job summary

Nido Early School in Ascot Vale is seeking a hands-on Cook who will be a role model in our kitchen, helping children develop lifelong healthy eating habits. You’ll work with our menus to create nutritious, kid-friendly meals while supporting the broader classroom team.

With Food Safety Supervisor certification and experience in childcare, you’ll manage groceries, dietary needs, and kitchen hygiene in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a childcare setting is preferred.
• Certificate II or III in Commercial Cookery is desirable.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is required.
• Must hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• National Child Safety Training (Geccko) certification or willingness to obtain before employment.

Responsibilities

• Cook delicious, healthy and nutritionally balanced meals using our Nido Menus.
• Purchase food and supplies for the kitchen.
• Ensure dietary and allergy requirements are supported with risk minimisation and communication plans.
• Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.

What You'll Bring

• Certificate II or III in Commercial Cookery - desirable
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate - required
• Experience working in a childcare or aged care setting
• Valid WWCC
• Strong understanding of allergens and dietary requirements
• Please note: Any candidate employed from 1 April must provide a certificate confirming completion of the Federally mandated "National Child Safety Training" via Geccko, or must be willing to obtain prior to employment
