Job summary

Simple Bliss Coffee in Forest Lake, Brisbane, seeks an experienced Cook for a permanent, full-time role. Responsibilities

• Ensure all meals are prepared consistently, maintaining high standards of taste, quality, portion control and presentation.
• Check ingredients for freshness, quality and suitability before use.
• Operate and monitor kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens and other cooking appliances.
• Prepare ingredients and complete daily food preparation to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
• Accommodate dietary requirements and preferences as needed.
• Maintain food storage, stock rotation and temperature controls per food safety rules.
• Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials and new dishes.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and help train junior staff.

As our café continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. The Role We are seeking a reliable, motivated and experienced Cook who takes pride in preparing quality café-style meals and thrives in a busy kitchen environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals from our established menu, maintaining high food safety standards and ensuring consistency in food quality, presentation and service. You will work closely with our kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive experience for our customers. Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook and present a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes in accordance with our café menu and recipes. Ensure all meals are prepared consistently, maintaining high standards of taste, quality, portion control and presentation. Check ingredients for freshness, quality and suitability before use.

Operate and monitor kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens and other cooking appliances. Prepare ingredients and complete daily food preparation to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Accommodate customer dietary requirements and preferences, including vegetarian, gluten‑free and other dietary requests where appropriate.

Maintain appropriate food storage, stock rotation and temperature controls in accordance with food safety requirements. Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials and the introduction of new dishes. Monitor ingredient usage, minimise food wastage and assist with stock control and ordering.

Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety standards. Work collaboratively with kitchen and front‑of‑house staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals. Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen staff where required.

Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Previous experience working as a Cook, preferably in a busy café, breakfast or brunch environment.

Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations. Ability to prepare and present meals consistently to a high standard. Experience working efficiently under pressure during busy breakfast and lunch services.

Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices. Good organisational skills, time management and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

Understanding of portion control, stock management and minimising food wastage. Flexibility to work weekends and early morning shifts as required. A positive attitude, reliability and a genuine passion for food and hospitality.

What We Offer Competitive annual salary of $75,000 – $85,000, depending on experience.
