Job summary

Pearson Carter Limited is partnering with an established engineering business to deliver control systems projects across mining, heavy industry and utilities from design to commissioning in Brisbane.

You will program and troubleshoot PLC, RTU, HMI, and SCADA applications, develop specifications and manuals, and validate systems on client sites while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to elevate engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Essential degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronic Engineering or related discipline.
• At least five years of control systems design and development experience.
• At least two years of hands-on Ignition SCADA experience.
• PLC programming and fault-finding with Schneider, Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms.
• Strong understanding of industrial control principles and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

Control Systems Engineer – Ignition SCADA Brisbane

Pearson Carter is partnering with an established engineering business growing its Queensland team. You’ll deliver control systems projects across mining, heavy industry and utilities, with ownership from initial design through to commissioning and opportunities to deepen your Ignition SCADA expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver control systems across the full project lifecycle, including conceptual design and front‑end engineering.

• Program, test and troubleshoot PLC, RTU, HMI and SCADA applications to improve industrial performance and reliability.

• Produce functional specifications, test documentation and operating manuals.

• Commission and validate systems on client sites against project requirements and engineering standards.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical guidance and contributing to engineering best practices.

Experience

Essential:

• A degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronic Engineering or a related discipline.

• At least five years of control systems design and development experience.

• At least two years of hands‑on Ignition SCADA experience.

• PLC programming and fault‑finding experience with Schneider Electric, Allen‑Bradley or Siemens platforms.

• Strong understanding of industrial control principles, with clear communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Advantageous:

• Experience with Plant SCADA or FactoryTalk View.

• Industrial communications knowledge, including EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA or MQTT.

• SCADA architecture, scripting, enterprise deployments and database integration.

• Exposure to Python, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or InfluxDB.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes or Grafana.
